All buildings in the Dajing Homestay face the streams and old trees, creating a mysterious and enticing internal space. Additionally, they face towards the provincial highway, making the homestay buildings more prominent and accessible. The architect's intention is to integrate the new building into Dajing Village while maintaining its independence and unique style.
The design of the Dajing Homestay utilizes common materials such as concrete, wood-like aluminum, glass, and brick, which blend seamlessly with the village. This natural approach allows visitors to fully integrate with the surroundings without any distractions.
The project covers a total area of 1914.57 square meters and was realized between January 16, 2019, and May 17, 2021, in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province. The design team, consisting of Liang Huashan, Hu Yongjia, Li Yanying, Lu Jingliang, Zhu Yehua, Lin Zhaosheng, Yu Haiqing, and Chen Weisi, worked diligently to overcome the challenges presented by the village's history and existing structures.
The Dajing Homestay follows the basic structure of the village while integrating its own style by arranging the buildings like an enclosed courtyard. This design approach creates a harmonious interaction between the homestay and the surrounding environment.
The Dajing Homestay project not only aims to promote the development of Dajing Village but also brings attention to the old village and its century-old camphor trees. It strives to pursue a sound, integrated development of people's lives, agricultural activities, and ecology.
As the preface of architectural space narration, ancient camphor trees, together with streams and courtyards, form the clue of the design. The transformation and infiltration of internal and external space enrich the architectural scene, connecting the lobby restaurant, book bar, single-family villa, guest room main building, and more through outdoor corridors. This design approach allows visitors to experience the spatial continuity of ancient villages as they walk through the homestay.
The Dajing Homestay project has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of the project, meeting professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
